HAUSE FIELD GUIDE · REVIEWED 25 OCTOBER 2026
Escalate an immediate danger
A dangerous release, fire concern or urgent exposure needs emergency assistance. From a safe location, call 911 and follow local directions. Do not use a contact form as a substitute for emergency reporting or attempt to identify a substance by smell or touch.
Keep the product record together
If already available, retain the product label, supplier details and current safety data sheet. Note whether the identity is confirmed or only suspected. CCOHS describes safety data sheets and chemical-specific planning as important inputs to workplace spill response. A generic internet cleaning recipe does not replace that process.
Describe the setting
The location, surface, drains, nearby operations and access restrictions can affect the assessment. Record what is known without entering the release area to measure it. Ask who will decide whether additional environmental investigation or authority reporting is required.
Clarify the responsibility chain
A property owner, employer, responder, carrier and disposal facility may have different responsibilities. The written scope should say who owns each decision and which records will be supplied. Keep the product assessment, cleanup work and return-to-use decision distinct so an unanswered question is not hidden inside a single line item.
The project questions are HAUSE planning prompts. Refer to the responsible authority and qualified provider for requirements that apply to your situation.
