HAUSE FIELD GUIDE · REVIEWED 25 OCTOBER 2026
Recognise the immediate priority
If there is immediate danger, fire, a suspected dangerous release or an urgent exposure, call 911 from a safe location and follow the responders’ directions. HAUSE enquiries and chat are reviewed later. Do not wait for a web-form reply before getting emergency help.
Use information you already have
Start with the city, property type, the observed issue and the point of discovery. Use “unknown” when the source, substance or affected area is not known. Do not enter a restricted area, move debris or disturb a suspect material to answer a form question. A useful brief can be incomplete and still make the next conversation easier.
Choose one property contact
A single authorised contact can keep access instructions, estimates and decisions together. Confirm whether the owner, tenant, estate representative, insurer or facility manager can approve work. Ask other participants what decisions they need to review, then record those hold points before materials or contents are removed.
Make the next action explicit
Ask whether the next step is an information call, an assessment visit or a separately quoted specialist investigation. Confirm the fee, availability, access conditions and what the assessment will produce. An enquiry is not a booking or confirmation that a provider is available. Save the written scope and the name of the person responsible for the next action.
The project questions are HAUSE planning prompts. Refer to the responsible authority and qualified provider for requirements that apply to your situation.
